2011 Winning Coconut Cake Recipe in new Washington Post Cookbook

Last night the Washington Post hosted a panel of former and current Food editors to celebrate the publication of the newspaper’s first cookbook. The Washington Post Cookbook: Readers’ Favorite Recipes features the most reader requested recipes including Decoyise Brown‘s prize-winning Coconut Cake [with Lemon Filling] and Cream Cheese Frosting from the first Makes-Me-Wanna SHOUT! Baking Challenge in 2011.

Bonnie Benwick, editor for the cookbook and deputy food editor for the Washington Post food section, profiled Decoyise in 2011 for a front page (below the fold) story. Bonnie arrived at Decoyise’s Waldorf, MD home on Mother’s Day. Decoyise’s Mother’s Day lunch menu and recipes that include the Buttermilk Chocolate Cake seen in the photo were published with the article. The recipe for the prize-winning Coconut Cake is available at this link. The Washington Post Cookbook is available for sale from the usual book sources. BTW – try the chocolate covered grapes recipe. Delicious!
